Thanks to our web developer, Hank Szeto at Thinking Cap Consulting, you now have the means to keep track of changes to the ERA website pages and the forums. Using the Watch function, you can individually select which pages or topics you personally want to keep track of, and you can cancel watching at any time.
Here's how it works:
Here's how it works:
First, in order to use the Watch function, you need to log on as a registered user. Once you are logged in, you can then use the watch function as follows:
General Website Pages
If you want to be notified when changes are made to any page on the website (e.g., The Monday List, Events, News), then scroll to the bottom of the relevant page and click on the eye icon that you will see there. A red circle with a line through it will appear over the eye - this means that you have successfully set up a watch on that page, and you will receive an email whenever a change is made to that page. You cancel the watch by simply clicking on the eye again so that the red is removed (think Visine...).
Discussion Forum, Noticeboard and Careers Opportunities
To be notified when new topics are started on the forum pages, click on the small eye icon that you will see on the right hand side of the page (opposite the button that says Add a New Topic). Again, the red circle will appear to tell you that you have successfully added a watch to the page. You will receive an email whenever a new topic is added to the forum.
To be notified of replies to a topic, open the topic itself and you will see the little eye icon is there on the right hand side - same procedure, poke the eye and it will go red to let you know you have succeeded. You will receive an email whenever a reply is posted to that topic.
To remove the watch, simply click on the eye to remove the red.
The same procedure will apply to the noticeboard and the job opportunities board.
I think this will make a major difference to the way that the forums can be used and it will make life so much easier for you to have total control over which pages and topics you watch.
Thank you to Hank Szeto for setting this up, free of charge for us.
